Anniversary celebration „50 years of fluid power RWTH Aachen University“
On the occasion of the 11th International Fluid Power Conference, the Fördervereinigung Fluidtechnik e.V. invites to the anniversary of „50 years of fluid power RWTH Aachen“ on March 21st. This is the event to review the research and developments in fluid power of the past decades.
Plenary sessions at Eurogress
The conference will be followed by the jubilee festivities, beginning with a series of plenary lectures at 5 p.m. at Eurogress. Rector Prof. Ernst Schmachtenberg, RWTH Aachen University, talks about the global visibility of fluid power research in Aachen. As a guest scientist at IFAS, Dr. Shimpei Miyakawa, JHPS in Japan, describes his impressions of numerous stays in Aachen. The lectures of the parting director Prof. Hubertus Murrenhoff and the future director Prof. Katharina Schmitz complete the series of plenary lectures. Prof. Murrenhoff looks back on 50 years of interdisciplinary research. Prof. Schmitz outlines the future direction of the institute and intended research activities. The contributions also include the Best Paper Award from the Global Fluid Power Society (GFPS) for the conference’s best scientific contribution.
After a half-hour break, the merriments will continue in the historic tram depot, Talstraße 2. The venue is within 15 minutes walking distance of the conference center. Alternatively, a shuttle service will be available.
Various contributions lead through a diverse evening. In between there will be enough time for social exchange while enjoying the cold and warm buffet. Dean Prof. Jörg Feldhusen begins his address on the importance of fluid technology within the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at RWTH Aachen University. Dr. Wolfgang Hahmann talks about the start period of the Institute for Hydraulic and Pneumatic Drives and Controls (IHP), which stood under the leadership of Prof. Backé. In further lectures Dr. Peter Saffe, Aventics, and Dr. Frank Bauer, Hydac Systems, add to the conversation with trends in fluid technology from their view as former Chief Engineers. Peter-Michael Synek, Deputy Managing Director of VDMA Fluid Power Association, speaks about highlights of the cooperation.
