Cloud-based solutions from Endress+Hauser
The cloud-based solutions demonstrated at the event are in the areas of predictive maintenance, asset information management and device configuration/management. They enable customers to use data on the field instruments themselves and information from the production process alongside conventional plant topology. The approach taken by Endress+Hauser, on the one hand, is to make data available using the company’s own cloud.
On the other hand, they can of course also implement cloud-to-cloud solutions with other manufacturers at the request of the customer. E+H not only provide standard applications, but they can also develop digitalization solutions that are tailored to the individual requirements of the customer and integrate them into the customer’s IT environment.
Digital collection of device data
One of the application’s shown at Hannover Messe describes an existing plant in which device data are collected and recommendations are output on how to optimize operating costs; for example, by standardizing the field devices. The collection of device data is either triggered manually via a smartphone app or runs automatically and continuously using what is known as an “edge device”. The data are then analyzed with a specially developed algorithm and the results are communicated to the plant owner/operator in an automatically generated report. Customers are able to improve their maintenance strategy based on the recommendations received.
Optimized maintenance planning
The second business case demonstrates how it is possible to predict maintenance tasks. A prototype application in Hanover illustrates how Endress+Hauser can predict pending maintenance activities for field devices, thus offering customers additional advantages; e.g. it allows customers to optimize maintenance planning and reduce unscheduled downtime. Development of this application is a company-wide effort within the entire group.
