Exoskeleton Use Case Launched
Rotpunkt Küchen, a German kitchen manufacturer introduce the exoskeleton Comau Mate in one of its plant in order to optimise workplace from a health point of view since not every tasks can be automated. E.g. kitchen elements loading and orders picking, truck loading and unloading if repetitively done all day long can generate muscular diseases and pains.
Comau is convinced, that its exoskeletons can simplify line workers daily tasks and reduce their physical stress. The manufacturer refers to statistics that say they can achieve a 30% reduction in strain on the main shoulder muscles, considering that a worker lifts his arms on average 4.600 times a day, almost a million times a year, to perform some tasks. Comau Mate passive technology exoskeleton (video below), which does not require batteries or motors, provides postural support that follows the movements of the arms without resistance or misalignment.
