ABB is honored by the Shanghai government in China as one of the first multinational companies for its technical innovation, research and development center in Shanghai. Research and development to accelerate innovation is an important component of ABB’s new robotics factory, which will open in Shanghai in 2022.

The factory, with an investment value of $150 million, represents the next stage of ABB Robotics’ manufacturing technology. It relies on automated manufacturing processes, such as self-learning machines, digital and collaborative solutions. In this plant robots will make robots.

ABB Robotics’ research and development center in China has been honored by the Shanghai government for its technical innovation, research and development capabilities. To receive this distinction, an R&D center must be established in Shanghai by global investors, operate on a global scale, play an important role in global R&D projects, and create unique technical innovations.
