Steinbach-Errani GmbH develops customized special systems, especially for the shipping and logistics industry. The company has produced a cover fitting device with box minimization for the Klingel Group. This system was implemented with components from the Movi-C modular automation system from SEW-Eurodrive.
The mechanical engineering company Steinbach-Errani developed a new cover fitting device for the Klingel Group. This system seals folding boxes filled with customer orders with covers and can simultaneously reduce the volume and also print the covers individually. The Movi-C modular automation system from SEW-Eurodrive supplied all the required drive and automation components.
In this complex system, eleven servo-controlled drive axes are precisely synchronized. A higher-level PLC triggers when which axis should start. The individual movements are controlled via the UHX45 Movi-C Controller from SEW-Eurodrive. As a master, it ensures direct communication between the axes and so enables their high-performance pulsed voltage supply. This leads to a fast data exchange and high processing speed. Depending on the format, the system can therefore achieve a cycle rate of 10 to 20 boxes per minute.
The drives are networked via the Sbus Plus system bus, which is coordinated and preset to the drive electronics and controllers from SEW-Eurodrive, and so makes startup faster. Furthermore, the system bus is based on EtherCAT and it is extremely real-time capable, ensuring smooth processes, accurate status messages, and smooth system operation.
